About ⭐

At Augusta University, we stand out among other colleges within the University System of Georgia (USG) for several reasons. We are the only College of Nursing affiliated with a tertiary care academic medical center, and community home to five (5) large medical centers, all just steps away from our classrooms, as well as quick access to Augusta’s nationally recognized burn center for treatment and research. We are the only college within the system and among very few in the country who offer a second-degree MSN entry-level nursing program which can be completed in just 18 months. Finally, we also offer an Accelerated-BSN program where students graduate one full semester earlier, and get a head start on terrific career opportunities. With programs focused on entry-level to advanced practice, including nursing science, Augusta University has you covered.

This year, we invite you to donate to our general scholarship fund (213150 College of Nursing Scholarship). This will allow us to support and build scholarship opportunities for high-achieving nursing student scholars and future nurse scientists in our PhD programs.

Scholarships for PhD Students
Our PhD Program features excellent mentoring and teaching by faculty, extensive research experiences, and committed peers. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary knowledge development and dissemination, featuring interdisciplinary research opportunities in multiple areas. Our graduates build upon the skills needed to apply leadership strategies to address ethical, political, economic, and socio-cultural issues in nursing. See below for examples of the academic excellence of our current PhD students.

Paige Krispin – Recipient of the Georgia Nurses Association Kathryn Chance Scholarship

Amy Malcom – Selected for the 2024 Graduate Nursing Student Academy Digital Innovators Program

Debra Dewitt – Abstract selected for a poster presentation at the 2025 Southern Nursing Research Society Conference

Scholarships for Nursing Student Scholars
The College of Nursing has two program options for our student scholars: The Nursing Scholars Program and the Jaguar Nursing Scholars Program.

The Nursing Scholars Program’s purpose is to enhance the undergraduate education of Augusta University’s academically talented freshmen and sophomores. We aim to support academic excellence, active learning, and foster a culture of research and scholarship among select pre-nursing students who will matriculate into the Augusta based BSN program.

The Jaguar Nursing Scholars Program’s purpose is to enhance academically talented freshmen and sophomores on the UGA campus. Select UGA pre-nursing students will receive direct admission to the BSN program (Athens Campus) on a conditional status. The program broadens the scope of enrichment opportunities that strengthen students individually while developing collegial leadership skills to serve in an interdisciplinary and multicultural environment.
