The University Libraries are dedicated to student success through a wide range of initiatives. Our commitment includes working with professors to implement no-cost and low-cost materials in place of commercial textbooks to help students and their families save money and make higher education more accessible. Programs we provide students, and the general Augusta community, are completely free, ensuring everyone can participate. In the past year, we have hosted engaging cultural programs, that have explored topics such as the history and impact of the Jewish Community in Augusta through our Holocaust Lecture Series, partnering to host AnthroDay where this year’s discussion focused on the history of Irish Travellers in nearby Murphy Village, S.C. and the legacy of Black Cowboys and Buffalo Soldiers through our Black History Month programming. At Greenblatt’s Health Sciences Campus, our Creative Technology Lab Makerspace offers 3D printing, button-making, and bookbinding tools for student and faculty projects. These actions enable us to create an inclusive, enriching environment where learning thrives.
Your support will drive student success at the Augusta University Libraries. As a hub for student achievement on our campus, we work to inspire and promote curiosity and continued learning through educational events and programming, expanding our academic resources, and providing stress relief during midterms and finals. With your help we can continue to be a vital force in continued student success. Join us in making a lasting impact.
The funds raised here will go to two projects geared toward our continued contribution to student success:
Reese Instruction Room
Help us transform the Instructional Room in Reese Library into a dynamic learning hub. The Instruction room is where we teach students how to navigate the Libraries’ resources and learn information literacy skills. This helps them gain invaluable research and critical thinking skills. Additionally, this space is vital to much of our programming at the Summerville Campus, being the host to such events like the Buffalo Soldiers visit for Black History Month, lively Board Game Nights and engaging book club meetings.
With your support, we can elevate the instructional room into a cutting-edge learning space. With the much-needed renovations and upgrades, we can continue offering high-quality content for the AU Student body and community in general. The improvements we are looking to make include updating the projection equipment to for clearer visuals, upgrading the audio equipment to ensure high quality lectures and discussions, and making improvements to the instructor station to align the space with the quality provided in classrooms throughout the University.
General Book Fund
You will also be investing in student success through our General Book Fund. Your donations will directly provide AU students with the most up-to-date materials required to excel in their courses. This fund ensures access to essential academic resources while also allowing us to reach out to AU Faculty to identify the best materials for their courses. This fund will allow us to equip students with the tools and resources they need to thrive.
By donating to the General Book fund, you help the libraries update media collections and resources, ensuring students have the most up-to-date materials.
Your gift matters! Whether it is enhancing our learning spaces or providing critically essential learning materials, every dollar helps us build a stronger library and goes toward making our space a better place for students and the community. Join us in this mission and donate today.
