Making a Difference in Costa Rica’s Wildlife and Communities:

Augusta University’s study abroad experience in Costa Rica combines meaningful service learning with unforgettable cultural and environmental exploration. Students work alongside the dedicated team at Refugio Animal de Costa Rica, gaining hands-on experience caring for rescued wildlife and supporting vital conservation efforts while making a direct impact on the lives of animals in need.

Beyond their service, students immerse themselves in the natural beauty and rich culture of Costa Rica. From a multi-day stay in the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve to a river boat tour, visits to local chocolate and coffee farms, and encounters with one of the country’s iconic volcanoes, participants experience the remarkable ecosystems and traditions that make Costa Rica unique.

Through service, reflection, and experiential learning, students develop a deeper understanding of conservation, global citizenship, and themselves.
