Empowering the Next Generation of Medical Illustrators
The Medical Illustration Student Success Fund supports the leadership, professional development, and scholarly growth of students enrolled in Augusta University's Medical Illustration program.
More Information:
Augusta University's Medical Illustration program prepares students to communicate complex scientific and medical concepts through innovative visual storytelling. By combining art, science, and technology, students develop the specialized skills needed to create educational content that advances patient understanding, supports health care professionals, and contributes to medical research and discovery. As future leaders in this highly specialized field, students benefit from opportunities that extend beyond the classroom and foster both personal and professional growth.
Experiential learning and professional engagement are essential components of a medical illustrator's education. Opportunities such as membership in the Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI), attendance at professional conferences, study abroad experiences, and participation in scholarly and leadership activities allow students to build networks, expand their knowledge, and develop the skills necessary for long-term success. These experiences help students gain valuable exposure to industry leaders, emerging technologies, and best practices within the profession.
For some students, however, the cost of professional memberships, conference registration, travel, educational supplies, and unexpected academic expenses can create barriers to participation. The Medical Illustration Student Success Fund was established to ensure that talented and deserving students can access opportunities that enhance their education and prepare them for successful careers. By reducing financial obstacles, the fund helps students fully engage in the experiences that support their academic achievement, professional development, and leadership potential.
Fund Goal:
In an exciting show of support, Medical Illustration alumni recently came together during the Association of Medical Illustrators conference to raise $8,000 in matching funds for the Student Success Fund. Their generosity reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that future students have access to the same transformative opportunities that helped shape their own professional journeys. Now, alumni, friends, and supporters are encouraged to match their efforts and help expand the fund's immediate impact.
